CRDF works in communities where people are concerned with increasing crime levels and have therefore invited CRDF to support a community policing project in their area. CRDF donates a patrol vehicle, provides administrative support and hires a driver and project manager.

CRDF links community leaders, local authorities and the community to help improve security and safety. The Kenya Police are a key partner in CRDFs safety and security initiatives. The Kenya Police post two armed officers in the patrol vehicle 24/7, to effectively respond to reports related to crime and safety.

CRDF works with the support of community members who report incidents, volunteer information and contribute what they can towards project operational costs of the vehicle, driver and project manager.

CRDF currently supports six community based policing projects across Kenya in the areas of Timau, Naro Moru, Burguret, Nanyuki, Ongata Rongai and Kilifi.

Crisis Response Development Foundation (CRDF) has partnered with communities in various areas of Kenya to improve their security and enable them to continue developing themselves in peace.

Through the community-based policing initiatives in these areas, communities and the relevant law enforcement agencies are at the forefront in combating crime from theft, robbery, car-jacking, rape, domestic violence and other crimes.

These community policing initiatives are a response to the Kenya Government’s call for communities to assist the police in combating crime.
